Creating videos isn’t all glamorous work, but Kevin was patient and thorough, making sure all of the details would be perfect. The video will feature our own director William McKeever along with Sunset Cadillac General Manager, Steve Montanaro, and will be used by Clubhouse International for training purposes to build TE programs.

With so many intriguing projects going on all at once at the Academy, it can be a challenge to keep our greater community up to date on our latest endeavors. We count on the Multimedia team to document how we move and shake. On any given day, it is not unusual to see our budding photographers and videographers popping up in the teams to catch us in action, showing candid shots of us engaging in interesting and meaningful work.

Today was particularly exciting, as it was our first remote shoot since the pandemic began a year ago. As our lives begin to move toward something resembling “normal,” we look forward to more opportunities to increase our range, be it to advocate or outreach, or to document our contributions in our community. The video we shot today will serve as a “best practices” training tool for other clubhouses to develop their own TE programs. In sharing what we have learned, our triumphs and trials, we hope to help create robust Transitional Employment near and far.

Shown above are Dariel Paredes, left, and Kevin Luckner preparing for the video shoot by testing the equipment.

“Live from the Academy” on World Wide Web https://www.academysrq.org/en/posts/events/live-from-the-academy-on-world-wide-web/ Fri, 16 Aug 2019 19:12:00 +0000 http://127.0.0.1/github/bayfrontmedia/academysrq.org/web/posts/happenings/live-from-the-academy-on-world-wide-web/ After three months of preparation, that included the creation of our multimedia studio, training of members and staff, and plenty of creative thinking, we offered our very first Internet Livestream. Inspired by the Jerry Lewis Telethons of yesteryear, “Live from the Academy” provided a glimpse into Academy life and the recovery process of our members.

Our Broadcast featured the talents and abilities of Academy members. Under the guidance of Garrett Laue, Executive Director and Ian Churchill, Assistant Director, the one hour and fifteen minute livestream went off without any glitches. We also counted on the charisma of our emcee, Academy Ambassador Stewie Bitterman, and the heartfelt testimonies of Carla Giuffrida, Herika Martinez and Michael Sanacore.

Stay tuned for more Academy livestreams! We have a lot of exciting programming ahead, all of it available by public access. It’s simple: you will need a computer with speakers and Internet access to view our broadcasts at www.AcademySRQ.org/live.

World Wide Web Appeal https://www.academysrq.org/en/posts/happenings/world-wide-web-appeal/ Fri, 15 Feb 2019 14:00:00 +0000 http://127.0.0.1/github/bayfrontmedia/academysrq.org/web/?p=890 Our new website, AcademySRQ.org, went live on January 2, 2019, and we have some surprising statistics to share. During our first month, our website received 469 different visitors, who viewed a total of 1,943 pages. Of those, 266 visitors were referred by a search engine, and 117 arrived from Facebook. We even had 9 visitors from China! We are pleased with the results so far – especially for the very first month of going live. Our website was coded in-house and is managed totally by members and staff. We continue to develop new pages and features so please share our link and return again soon. Kudos to John Robinson, our multimedia guru.

New Website Goes Live https://www.academysrq.org/en/posts/happenings/new-website-goes-live/ Thu, 27 Dec 2018 14:00:00 +0000 http://127.0.0.1/github/bayfrontmedia/academysrq.org/web/?p=864 Welcome to our new website! After months of thought and planning, we were finally able to complete the design of our new website, AcademySRQ.org.

Both members and staff participated in the entire process, from designing the layout and color schemes to writing the content and ultimately releasing it to the public. It was decided to build the new website on the popular WordPress platform, which is used by over 60 million websites globally. This will allow members to build valuable skills that can be used in the workplace while at the same time providing a needed service to our community.

Member Izzy DeMartine presented the new design, which was received with excitement and approval of everyone.
