]]> The Academy Celebrates FOUR Years https://www.academysrq.org/en/posts/happenings/the-academy-celebrates-four-years/ Fri, 18 Jun 2021 17:23:16 +0000 http://127.0.0.1/github/bayfrontmedia/academysrq.org/web/posts/happenings/the-academy-celebrates-four-years/ On the occasion of our 4th anniversary, the Business & Technology team looked like an assembly line of sparkles, dinosaurs and rocket ships. Members and staff sat around a table piled with bright and decorative backpacks, filling them with fun and essential school supplies. The backpacks were picked up in the afternoon by the Salvation Army, and will be given to children of low-income families so that they are prepared for the first day of school this fall. We have created a tradition of service to our community as a way of commemorating our anniversaries. Our Business & Tech team reached out to Target with this idea and they were more than happy to donate the backpacks and supplies. Thank you, Target!

The afternoon was all about fun! Our Culinary team outdid themselves as usual, with a barbecue that satisfied all of our senses. The piece de resistance was the cake! Under the tutelage of our Chef Ben, the team made a cake in the likeness of our unique building. Take notice, Ace of Cakes! After lunch, we gathered to share our thoughts and memories of the last four years, passing the microphone as funny and poignant stories were told. We ended the day with the pure fun of board games, jenga, and more; moments that had us squealing with laughter.

We would not be where we are today with the support of our members and their families, our staff, Board of Directors, Ambassadors, employment partners and all of the community partners that make up our community. We look forward to moving forward with all of you, of growing together and discovering our shared future.
