A Partnership Based on Caring and Compassion
Caring for Persons with Disability: What Don’t we See?
Sarasota Memorial Health Care (SMH) is a valued partner of the Academy at Glengary. Our involvement began at the initiative of SMH CEO, David Verinder, who supported the creation of the Academy in 2016. Our collaboration is based on shared values that include caring, compassion, excellence and teamwork. Founded in 1925, SMH is a public, community hospital whose mission is: To strive to provide healthcare services that excel in caring, quality and innovation.
This past week, the Academy was invited by the SMH Diversity Council to present at a Continuing Educational training titled: “Caring for Persons with Disability: What Don’t we See? Patient & Clinician Perspectives.” Academy member, Paul Hennekes (left), provided a brief testimonial of his experience and Community Liaison/Program Coordinator, Jeffrey Jean (right), offered an overview of mental health services.
SMH partners with the Academy by providing Transitional Employment opportunities to members. We give special thanks to Executive Director of Human Resources, Laurie Bennett, for her vision and leadership.
